REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Our planet is at a critical juncture, with climate change posing a significant threat to our future. Urgent and radical changes are imperative, and the food industry, being a major player, must transform its supply systems to eliminate waste and embrace sustainability. At BAK, we have made reducing our environmental impact a core tenet of our business.


PLASTIC FREE PACKAGING

Recognizing the detrimental impact of millions of tons of plastic on our oceans and waterways, Raynor Foods is actively seeking alternatives to plastic to diminish our environmental footprint. We are proud to announce that our menu is now 80% plastic-free.

  • Core Range: Our core range of sandwiches utilizes recyclable cardboard and features a Naturflex window. Naturflex, derived from a renewable source (trees), is both compostable and recyclable.
  • Hospitality and Sandwich Platters: Compostable/recyclable Natureflex and cardboard are employed for our hospitality and sandwich platters.
  • Salad Trays: Our salad trays are made of cardboard, lined with Natureflex, and are fully home compostable.
  • Portion Pots: Our portion pots are crafted from bio-plastic.

In the future, we are committed to expanding the range of ingredients grown on-site, experimenting with new flavors and varieties.


LOCAL & SUSTAINABLE INGREDIENTS & SUPPLIERS

BAK prioritizes local, responsible suppliers, sourcing materials sustainably, as recognized by the Forest Stewardship Council. This commitment ensures the traceability and freshness of our ingredients. All palm oil-containing ingredients are certified sustainable. We exclusively use fish and shellfish not listed on the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) list of fish to avoid.


FOOD SAFETY & TRACEABILITY

To enhance food safety and traceability, we've increased our on-site production of sandwich ingredients. We prepare many of our own sandwich fillings and mixes to uphold the standards required for our products. External suppliers must meet our rigorous supplier approval criteria.
